Orlando Weather Forecast - usually "rain" or afternoon showers in Summer and it is Humid - how do you stay entertained when it rains on your vacation. Rain in the summertime is often short lived, a thunderstorm usually lasting few minutes to 1 - 2 hours...

How to stay entertained if it rains when you are on vacation, in Orlando in the summertime is an easier task than in some places because the rain is often short thunderstorms (10-60 mins).

Actually if you are inside in line for a popular attraction like Star Tours, Space Mountain  or shows like Festival of the Lion King it may start raining and end before you exit the attraction. You will only notice...

...If it rains, the rain usually cools the air right after the rain, especially if the clouds stay, the sun does not cause an especially steamy condition.

(1) This is a good time to find a sit down restaurant in the theme park and enjoy a meal while watching most people stand up. Get the table early though.

Orlando weather forecast is, well, in the summertime in which I said as a gamekeeper at one of the major theme park where I worked, "Welcome to the sunshine state where it rains every day." This is often true in the summertime weather pattern of Orlando, Fl.

(2) Find a friendly gamekeeper...

When I worked as a gamekeeper at one of the major theme parks in Orlando Florida, guest would run to the game to keep from getting wet, as the area in front of the game would fill up, I didn't ask to play the game, rather, I'd just talk with the guest.

Sometimes, I selected a guest that the crowd seemed to like, or that I was interested in their hometown location and I would "interview them" about their hometown. I would ask if I were visiting their hometown what are the interesting things to do there. If I already knew something about their hometown then that also, I believe, made my interview more interesting for the crowd that was the audience to this impromptu interview. I'd ask, "when it rains in [your hometown] do you think about the Orlando Attractions?

If they answered "yes" then I would ask, "Did you ever imagine that would be standing here, on vacation, while it rained?" I got some mean looks and some friendly laughs! If they answered "no" I'd ask, "well then, when did you think about vacationing here?"

Regardless of the Orlando weather forecast, My daughter and I never actually brought a poncho or rain coat to use when it rained. We knew how to maneuver under shelter at the theme parks, or as stated above just go eat! Besides, what is the difference between getting wet on a water ride at a theme park and an afternoon shower?

When the rain would last longer than the sit down meal or longer than a friendly gamekeeper jabbering, usually there we NO new customers by this time so, we would stay at the table or the game.

We had some interesting

(3) guessing games,

(4) strategy games,

(5) cloud shape creating games etc. and often

(6) we would talk to the people at the table next to us because they would start to look around and to us as they would get board.

The children were usually the first to come to our table. It seemed that the kids already knew "how to stay entertained if it rains when you are on vacation" that is, if their parents would let them!

My daughter would often accept the "play" request with the other children, allowing me to "get out of her way", "watch" and "learn" from them! How to "make friends" is something that I believe that children practice far better than adults.

(7) Making new friends is a way to stay entertained when the Orlando weather forecast says that it will rain on vacation. Is this "misery loves company"? Not in my daughter and my case, and not for those with which we made friends. If there were "complainers" nearby, we often left and made our way to the next theme park attraction, under the best shelter we could find along the way of course, as we left misery to itself!

(8) Attempt a world record! Not every rain presents itself as to attempt a world record as this one did.

At Disney's Animal Kingdom, the Orlando weather forecast called for rain, on the record cold for that day in Orlando, Fl. My daughter and I almost set the world record for the most consecutive rides of the Kali River Rapids ride. On that rainy day she made a friend that is still in contact with her today almost 12 years later!

Rain can only lose entertainment value if you want it to. If it rains, Just keep on "Singin' in the Rain". Enjoy.
