Orlandowise.com ORLANDO, FL: Disney facial hair policy, beginning Monday January 23, 2012 (the Chinese New Year), blogs that we follow started reporting that the company had stopped their long standing requirement of no facial hair! We believe that common sense would command that, since the hippies of the 1960's and 1970's, this requirement was not, in our opinion, in the best interest of the company!
King Triton, the Little Mermaid King, had facial and long hair!
Walt, himself had a mustache, the Seven Dwarfs had beards, several of the “western” shows, men had facial hair, and no one could see the hypocrisy? Please see our History of the World web page where Walt announces a theme park on the land purchased from Irlo Bronson. Yep, he still has his mustache then and a no facial hair policy. Well, at least I am not universally accused of being cynical. The honest seem to understand! :)
Us baby boomers did not change the world, or even in Tomorrowland for that matter. Yet this time was chosen, this particular time, to change! Is that the free market, too? Maybe I can now go to there and er, ah, um get a job.
Most blogs are speculating that as real world wide expansions happen and "The World" enters eastern Asia and particularly the former U.S.S.R and Russian countries (BTW, where was the original Cinderella's castle from? Am I being cynical again or seeing hypocrisy again), the attitudes people have of facial hair are not the same as the 1940's and 1950's "grown-ups" and the “unwilling to listen” “unable to trust” people over 30 in the 1960's and 1970's (yep, I a baby boomer) in the US and not the same as in the rest of the world!
Truth wins in the long term. Always! Sometimes that is a few centuries as in the Holy Roman Empire, less than 100 years in the case of the U.S.S.R. Sometimes it is less than a lifetime as children grow up then, while taking care of their parents, see things now that were not seen earlier in life! Truth wins!
Walt Disney World (my most favorite places in Orlando and the World for that matter) has now accepted, however reluctantly and unwittingly, the truth! It is facial hair that is natural, not the razor!
