Of all the cheap Orlando hotels, and there are many, Orlandowise.com will cover cheap hotels in Orlando from Kissimmee to Sanford, FL as if all of these Orlando cheap hotels were in Orlando. Cheap hotels in Orlando Florida is usually the key to a cheap Orlando vacation, is almost dependent upon staying in the cheap hotels in Orlando. Accommodation are usually the biggest cost of an Orlando vacation and cheap Orlando hotels can help reduce the cost.
For the purpose of defining cost of "cheap Orlando hotels" we'll use hotels priced less expensive than a Disney's Value Resorts!
There are alternatives to Orlando cheap hotels. For example, for large families, an Orlando house rental may be rented for a reasonable price vs. 2 rooms in a cheap Orlando hotel. Florida vacation rental homes are a real value for large families!
Also, a suite like a Hawthorne Suites (near SeaWorld), particularly with advance reservations, may compete with any of the cheap Orlando hotels for a cheap Orlando vacation.
When I moved back to Orlando from Atlanta I "lived" at the Gator Motel. At that time I needed cheap Orlando hotels until I found a permanent place to stay. If that self-employment income stream had not been killed, I'd probably still be there. The owners are great, and, at the time, they helped me more than my relatives!
At that time I owned BookBagsAndBackpacks.com (now available to anyone that can register it) and I advertised for the Gator Motel on that domain name.
Located within walking distance to The Medieval Times attraction, the Gator Motel is our favorite of the cheap hotels in Orlando! Gator Motel is a small motel. Only 38 rooms are available for guest.
Not to be confused with the Gatorland attraction.
There is a Pool! Not heated, as is common at the cheap Orlando hotels so, in the wintertime this may be cool! The rooms are clean and well kept. WiFi is available - maybe the signal is stronger by now.
(4576 West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, Orlando, FL
Another way to recognize is this is at Mile Marker 13!)
The Gator Motel is just NOT NEW!
Built in the early explosion when Walt Disney World was new, it had a “gator zoo” back then! That “gator zoo” is now no more!
Coffee and conversations with the owners was great at breakfast! Construction at the check-in area was being done the last time I was there, so breakfast could have been better.
When staying here we recommend a rental car (or public transportation – Lynx) and not taking the shuttle bus to Disney World or the other theme parks. We like going to the theme parks at our own pace! We have enough schedules in our lives, and we don't like adding more schedules!
There is a Wal-mart Super Center within walking distance, too! Some international visitors want to include a visit to a Wal-mart just to see what a Wal-mart is like! And this is the place!
Also, some of these same international visitors use public transportation. Orlando Bus Lynx #55 and Lynx #56 both stop directly in front of the Gator Motel.
To go to Disney World:
Lynx #56 goes to the Magic Kingdom's Transportation Center (here is its schedule Lynx #56 to the Magic Kingdom Transportation Center).
The Magic Kingdom Transportation Center is the HUB for all of the Disney Locations (Disney Transportation is free transportation to all of Disney World)!
To go to SeaWorld :
Lynx #56 to the Magic Kingdom then Lynx #50 to SeaWorld.
To go to Universal Studios :
It's clumsy!
Link #55 or Link#56 to Osceola Square Mall then Lynx #57 to yet another Wal-mart Super Center then the Lynx #37 to Universal Studios.
Located near the intersection of hwy 192 and 535, so it is convenient (within 5 miles) to Disney World and SeaWorld. Easy to get to I-4 or Turkey Lake Road (the "back way") to Universal Studios, although is maybe 10 miles away.
I didn't get to know the staff here as well as other motels. The room was always clean when we returned from the theme parks. And there is breakfast...
...I recommend eating at the nearby restaurants (some are within walking distance - Bob Evans Farms and Pizza Hut) or Publix (a grocery store) is across the street (535) for microwave meals in the room.
Same public (Lynx bus) transportation to the attractions as Gator Motel.
At the hwy 192 / 535 intersection. 535 is the "back way" (then 536 - World Center Drive) to Disney World.
The staff is friendly and helped me more than the owner (it is a franchise). I'd spent almost $5,000/year in room rent the two previous years, and the owner did not want to give me better rates for an extended stay... hm... It is still my 3rd favorite place to stay! But, don't expect goodwill! Given that without this extension of Goodwill, I may have never found the Gator Motel.
The rooms are clean and the closeness to Lake Cecile and walking to and being by the lake is relaxing! I sit on the ground and look at Lake Cecile.
This motel, too, is not new!
Same public (Lynx bus) transportation to the attractions as Gator Motel.
